Course Content

SQL

SQL (Structured Query Language) is a standard interactive and programming language for getting information from and updating a database. Although SQL is both an ANSI and an ISO standard, many database products support SQL with proprietary extensions to the standard language. During the Data Analytics Training, you will learn to load data from excel into the database, and then write scripts to retrieve and manipulate the data in the database via SQL scripts

Tableau

Tableau is a data visualization tool.
Tableau offers five main products: Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, Tableau Online, Tableau Reader and Tableau Public. Tableau allows for instantaneous insight by transforming data into visually appealing, interactive visualizations called dashboards. This functionality and use of Tableau will be taught during the session. Tableau has become one of the top Business Intelligence and Analytics Tools used by many industries. It is known as the ideal visualization tool, at getBIsmart, we call it Microsoft Excel on Steroids.
During the Data Analytics Training session, you will learn how to create reports in Tableau, build dashboards, and also publish reports so you can share with others.

Problem Solving

We will use the Minto Pyramid Principle to solve real business problems, walk through problem solving methods and techniques to answer everyday business questions. More importantly, you will get a taste of the common problems analysts solve everyday, how the questions arise, what they mean, and how to approach them.

Database Design / Structure

This will cover database architecture, and expose students to the various database schema designs. In this class, students will learn how to understand data models, table relationships, and best ways to understand a company’s business model by simply exploring the database – These are all prerequisites to do for analysts before writing queries against the datawarehouse tables.

R Language

R is a programming language and software environment for statistical computing and graphics supported by the R Foundation for Statistical Computing. It is used among statisticians and data miners for developing software and data analysis. In the Data Analyst Training Session, we will give an intro into the R language, and also teach you how to use R for descriptive statistics so you can quickly and easily understand the elements of your data.

Excel

Excel class will be a review of key features used by analysts on a daily basis. These include Pivot tables, Vlookup functions, and Charts.
